The Wine Society was voted Wine Merchant of the Year by readers of Decanter magazine. The International Wine Challenge also named The Society Wine Club of the Year and the best specialist merchant for Alsace and, for the third consecutive year, Chile.

From fine wine at more than £250 per bottle to everyday red wine and white wine at £4.75, The Wine Society stocks over 1,500 wines and includes something for every pocket and palate. The Society also sells wine en primeur, offers wine storage, wine cellar plans and runs nationwide wine tastings.

Wine Champions 2009

These are the wines that bowled the buyers over this year – the best of the best of The Society’s range. The winners are selected after 20 gruelling rounds of blind tasting sessions by The Society’s buyers, and chosen because the wines were the best in their class for drinking this summer; not next year, or the year after, but now. Includes six mixed cases.

Claret, Burgundy, Champagne and other classic wine regions are, of course, strengths, but The Society's list also makes room for less well-known wines and encourages members to try them. The range of pre-selected mixed cases is popular with members looking to find either new wines to enjoy or a simple, affordable way to re-stock the wine rack.
